IRS Rebuild

The most enjoyable project I have done was the rebuild of the rear suspension.  This project took most of the winter in 2015 to complete.

I had been planning to get to this project for a number of years.  The motivation to get started came in 2014 when I noticed that the rear end seemed loose when accelerating hard and then letting off at freeway speeds.  I took it to a local XJ specialist who thought it might be the trailing arms.  Upon disassembly I found that two of the bolts holding the wishbones to the differential were loose (bolts circled in red).  Luckily they have lock wires that kept them from coming completely loose

Here are some before and after photos

I will get organized around this rebuild and post about the project in sections in the future.  For now, here are a number of the photos that I took during the project.
