Sports Car Classics have three starting points for a dream coupe build, and it looks like the possibilities are only limited by the size of your wallet.

Last weekend, we met up with some of the Denver Jaguar club members and went to the Rocky Mtn. Airport Car and Air Show. This is a great group and we are looking forward to future events with the club. I learned that there was an XJ12C for sale in the area, and was very excited for the opportunity to see it after the show.

The coolant in these engines should be replaced every couple of years. I use conventional green coolant which is getting harder to find. It seems in the US that there are only two manufacturers left for green coolant: Valvoline and Peak . And from what I can tell, Peak makes the Autozone, Advance Auto and O’Reilley in-house brands. Napa had the Valvoline coolant, but none of my local parts stores had the Peak coolant (probably because they want you to buy their in-house branded coolant).

XJ6C for Sale
I haven’t seen any XJ12C’s with their original V12 for sale since last November. This, nice looking XJ6C from Worldwide Vintage Autos came up and it has some nice upgrades, including a fuel injected engine from a series 3 XJ6.

Took the Jaguar to its first Denver car show today. It was a small show in its first year hosted by the Kokopelli Beer Company. There seemed to be about 75 cars that were primarily American muscle cars with some really interesting kit cars. Proceeds went to Lifeline Puppy Rescue and there were puppy’s there for adoption….which I think was the main reason my daughter was excited to go. Also, they had beer. Tried the Pancho Villa which was really tasty. Here are some pics from the event.

We have added another British vehicle to the family. Decided we needed an SUV, so started looking for something interesting and mechanically straight forward. Ended up with this Land Rover Discovery 2. Have started another blog on this truck, if you would like to see more on it. This one needs to be more practical and reliable than the Jaguar. Hope it turns out that way 🙂
Seat rebuild and recover
The coupe has just had its biggest interior upgrade to date!
My seats have needed replacement for a while as the leather was starting to tear and much of the stitching was disintegrating. This was going to be at least a $2,000 project, so it kept going on the back burner. I started to see positive reviews for Lseat about a year ago, so I took a chance and purchased covers for the front and rear seats for a very reasonable, $600.

How many times have you been working on your car, needed to replace a part, gone to your favorite parts vendor web site to find the dreaded words “no longer available“? Next you’re on EBay crossing your fingers and hoping to find a used part somewhere. What if you could build your own replacement part by printing it out….well, you can today…sort of.

*******MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL********
Last summer my wife bought me the Original Technical Publications document collection for the XJ. If you are the type of person who enjoys researching these cars, then I highly recommend buying this. The documents and information are really cool, but the user experience could be better.
