Resources I use

For the maintenance, repair and projects that I outline, I have used the following:

For Repairs

  • ROM – XJ12 Repair Operation Manual – this is a well used manual that started falling apart and is now in a 3 ring binder.  This is my most used resource

For Parts

  • XJ6 Series 2 Jaguar Parts Catalog – when in the market for a parts catalog I was recommended to get the XJ6 not the XJ12 catalog because it was more “accurate”.  Not sure if that’s correct, or if its the only one they had in stock, but it is great for all the non-engine parts
  • An old Special Interest Car Parts catalog – until the early 2000’s these guys were a top discount Jaguar parts house and they published a great catalog with part schematics and part numbers

For Help

THE BOOK – This is an amazing compilation of Jag-lovers.org forum discussions arranged by topic by Kirby Palm.  Its huge, its free and its required reading for anybody doing their own work on a V12 Jaguar.  I first discovered it in about 2002 and have read it from cover to cover at least 3 times.  It is always a bit intimidating and I don’t know anyone who would be able to implement all the recommendations but the basics are….don’t let the V12 run hot or lean.

Ed Sowells webpage – Ed has a ’76 XJS that has the same version of the V12 in the XJ12C.  He has done some awesome projects and documented them in detail.  In fact my next two projects have been inspired by Ed’s work and I will be using his write-ups as a guide
