This one has had some good looking suspension work and underside detailing done, but would definitely need a PPI to check out brakes and for body putty rust repairs.
#683 is being sold by Prestige Euro Cars in Ft. Lauderdale with an asking price of $25k.
Vinyl top removed when repainted. After market bump guard along side.
Interesting that this has a manual versus remote controlled mirror. According to Jaguar’s US brochure from 1976 all XJ12C’s came with the remote mirror
A few areas where there is visible rust…..this is an obvious area of concern
Another area of rust on the hood
Automatic antenna not working. Pretty easy to replace this
One whitewall tire….assume all need to be changed
pretty dusty, but overall the interior looks to be in good shape
Leather and stitching looks good in the pictures
Tidy engine bay. There is mention of a “new engine”. Would need to figure out what that means. Air injection removed. Cats are there, but may be hollowed out.
Nicely detailed underside. Also looks very dry. Would need a closer look to see if it was only a clean and paint versus refurb.
Calipers are nicely painted, but not new and may not have been rebuilt based on the overspray. Also not seeing the lock wiring on the caliper mounting bolts.
Nice looking and dry rear suspension. Looks like newer shocks but not rotors
This is where things start to fall apart. What’s happening with the handbrake cable. The handbrake must not be connected. Also, why is the fuel return line not in its normal position. I don’t like it right next to the exhaust. The new undercoating looks great, but it would be good to see pictures of the underside before the coating went on.
Update April 2019 This car has now been relisted at the same dealer with an asking price of $39,950
6/7/19 update. Relisted for $6,850. This seems to be a good price and will give the new owner some room to work on the brakes and make the body work repairs.
