Intake Manifold Re-installation

I had the intake manifolds glass bead blasted and powder clear coated in a semi-gloss finish.  I am happy with the look and they should be much more maintainable.

All of the components that attach to the manifolds were also cleaned up.

And here are before and after pictures of the intakes re-assembled

The 5/8″ 90 deg hoses connecting the balance pipe between manifolds were very soft and oily.  I picked up a couple of new molded heater hoses and was concerned that these are under the manifolds, out of sight in a hot and potentially oily environment and may also get soft over time and collapse under vacuum.  To address this, I inserted a spring into each.  It was a tight fit, so I had to place the hose in hot water and the spring in the freezer to make it work.

I don’t drive the car in winter and the cold start injectors can fail and cause problems, so I removed them and replaced with some nice block-off plates from Techtonics Tuning.  A major benefit in removing these is that I do not need to modify the new fuel rail and it further simplifies the system.

The manifold gaskets need to be trimmed for installation.  I used a little gasket dressing on each side and then installed the manifolds.

Now I can finally get to fitting and installing the new fuel rail and hoses…….
