My main goals for the fuel rail project are to keep the fuel hoses as short and straight as possible and to de-clutter the engine bay. With those goals in mind I decided to relocate the fuel filter to the trunk.
Since I recently changed all of the trunk hoses when replacing the fuel pump, I only added one length of new hose from the change over valve to the pump inlet. I tried to puzzle out the best way to make this work before disconnecting anything, but as usual….simply jumping in and seeing how things fit and the simplest way to route hoses worked best. In the end I moved the fuel pump from the right to the left of the trunk and mounted the filter using the original brackets from the engine mount location on the right. I am very happy with the limited hose bends and access should be good for changing the filter in the future. Here are before and after photos.
